One of two large statues of Imi-ra-mesha, king of the 13th dynasty from the Second Intermediate Period. Now they are stored in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, under accession numbers No. JE37466 and No. JE37467.
The name Imi-ra-meshau (jmj-r mšcw) literally means "chief of warriors"/"commander", which is quite unusual for a king, and therefore gives grounds for a number of researchers to put forward theories that he was a military usurper who managed to take power over the throne relying on the army. On the other hand, there is no evidence of this, and the name Imi-ra-meshu at that time belonged to the generally accepted personal names, so calling a person "commander" could be some kind of family tradition.

Stele of Ramos, a craftsman from a labor camp in Deir El Medina. Manchester Museum, Inv. No. 1759.
Ramos is known from over 40 different sites from the Theban region; this particular stele was found in Ramessium. The epithet of Ptah in the second column of the text ("the lord of fate (š3j), creating good luck (rnn)") clearly refers to the deities Shai and Renenutet - a characteristic "literary turn" of that era. So, Ramesses II boasted that he himself was "the lord of Shai (his destiny) and the creator of Renenutet (his luck)"; in the temple of Karnak, Shai appears as the "Shai of all gods". He, as the personification of fate, could not be ignored even under monotheism during the reign of Akhenaten: in one of the hymns, the king refers to Aten, calling him "Shai, who gives life."
